Volunteer highlight: Beth Jones

How long have you volunteered with us?

I began volunteering in 2010.

How did you first get involved or hear about TheDCH?

I recently moved to Wilmington and live in Trolley Square. I discovered DCH when I first explored the neighborhood. The organization seemed to have great opportunities to learn about the Wilmington community and continue my interest in gardening. I was right.

What volunteer activities have you participated in?

Rare Plant Auction, Urban Farm, Community Garden Spring Plant Sale, Private Gem Garden Tour Guide, Wilmington City Garden Contest Judge, and DCH Headquarter volunteer gardener.

What have you enjoyed the most about volunteering with TheDCH?

Meeting and working with diverse individuals and supporting projects that target community needs.

Picking Urban Farm produce and selling it at a Saturday Market with Ann.

A sense of accomplishment after steady morning of weeding, watering and planting to maintain DCH headquarter gardens. Gardening is good for the SOUL!

The trees are in at St. Patrick’s & St. Mary’s Church on King Street! Thanks so much for what you do for our community. You’re the best!
