Education Manager


The Delaware Center for Horticulture seeks a qualified, collaborative, and energetic professional to lead and deliver DCH’s educational programs and activities for a variety of target audiences and locations. The Education Manager is a full-time, exempt (salaried) position reporting to the Director of Education. This position is responsible for the development, administration, and implementation of established education programs as well as building new audiences, opportunities, and offerings.


Key responsibilities include:

  • Lead DCH’s horticulture skills training programs for adults (Branches to Chances program and gardening program at Baylor Women’s Correctional Institution);
  • Strengthen, deliver, and identify opportunities for new and existing educational activities;
  • Support staff and volunteers in the planning and delivery of youth-focused, informal sciencebased educational programming both onsite (DCH facility) as well as community-based sites;
  • Maintain fiscal responsibility and oversight of the Education budget;
  • Set overarching goals for education programs, incorporate these goals during planning, execution, and evaluation of the educational activity; and
  • Supervise, support, and train teaching staff (paid & volunteer).
Job Requirements: 
  • Bachelor’s Degree in horticulture, education or environmental field
  • Ability to work effectively with both children and adults
  • Experience working with diverse audiences and communities preferred
  • Ability to plan and manage multiple projects with efficient time management
  • Excellent interpersonal skills, including listening
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills; proven public speaking ability
  • Excellent organizational skills
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Word and Excel
  • Motivated, able to work independently and in a team both indoors and outside
  • Flexibility to work a schedule that meets the needs of the organization; some evening and weekend work required
  • Your own transportation
