Director of Greening Programs

 

The Delaware Center for Horticulture seeks a highly-qualified, experienced professional to lead and advance the organization’s greening programs in urban horticulture. The Director of Greening Programs is a full-time, senior-level exempt position reporting to the Executive Director and is a member of the staff leadership team, which collaborates on long-term program strategy and financial sustainability.


Key responsibilities include partnership development to secure earned revenue (fee-for-service contracts), leadership of programmatic strategies, and project oversight and management (including project design and planning, budgeting and estimating). The Director of Greening Programs will lead cross-functional project teams to drive earned contract revenue for DCH’s greening programs. The successful candidate will use project management methodologies and best practices to develop and deliver projects on time and within budget. The incumbent will be working in a fast- paced and dynamic team environment, overseeing team functions and accountability, and handling a varied portfolio of high visibility projects with many stakeholders and partners. This position provides direct support and guidance for DCH’s greening program staff. Compensation is based on experience.

Job Requirements: 
  • A proven track record of driving successful contract revenue
  • Well-developed partnership development, project management and oversight skills
  • Management, supervisory and team-building experience
  • Knowledge and experience in urban horticulture, ecological landscapes and green infrastructure
  • Budgeting, estimating, and profit/loss analysis skills
  • Familiarity of issues pertaining to land use, public administration and urban planning
  • Ability to apply strategic thinking to program direction, development and priorities
  • Excellent time management and organizational skills
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to write clearly and concisely
  • A willingness to experiment, test new ideas, and pursue new opportunities
  • Bachelor’s degree in a strongly related field
