Local Foods Grow Healthy Communities

Join the Delaware Urban Farm and Food Coalition (DEUFFC) at DCH for an evening of networking, information, and inspiration. Keynote speaker Ben Flanner, CEO and co-founder of New York’s Brooklyn Grange, will share how the world’s largest soil-based rooftop farm produces and sells vegetables, herbs, hot sauce, and honey on 2 ½ acres of intensive green roof. DEUFFC’s mission is to support community-oriented urban agricultural projects to expand healthy food access in Northern Delaware and bring together resources and technical assistance through a collaborative approach to urban farming. Refreshments will be provided by Delaware Local Food Exchange and Honeybee Seasonal Kitchen and Market. Brooklyn Grange’s book, The Farm on the Roof: What Brooklyn Grange Taught Us about Entrepreneurship, Community, and Growing a Sustainable Business, will be available for pre-order with registration and during the event. Registration required; register at www.thedch.org. For more information, contact Carrie Murphy, Extension Educator at cjmurphy@udel.edu or (302) 831-2506.
