Learning from Great Gardens: Hedgeleigh Spring (Swarthmore, PA)

THIS EVENT HAS BEEN CANCELED IN RESPONSE TO COVID-19.

Hedgeleigh Spring is the garden of horticulturist and author Charles Cresson. A family property since 1883, the intensive 2-acre garden was designed by Cresson's grandfather in the 1920s with a central flower garden of roses and perennials, backed by a 90 ft. crescent-shaped white picket fence. Garden areas include the old springhouse, woodland gardens, a small pond, a creek with a waterfall, a vegetable garden, and a lowland perennial meadow. The diversity of habitats provides for a wide-ranging collection of plants.
