Discover Lancaster County Day Trip

Enjoy a spring day in beautiful Lancaster County, PA! Our first destination is the most photographed private garden in the county, and it celebrates the 80th anniversary of the Wizard of Oz with both themed garden accents and a fascinating house tour. Gardens fill this 1 ½ acre residence, with paths that take visitors past Toto’s house, through a bamboo grove, toward the Emerald City, and conclude in the dedicated pink garden. The house tour completes the Wizard of Oz experience, with designed rooms and collections of Art Deco-era dinner and houseware. We will enjoy a box lunch in the gardens and then make our way to Landis Valley Village and Farm Museum, a living history museum focused on Pennsylvania German heritage from 1750 to 1940. The museum includes exhibit buildings, a crossroads village, and adjoining farmsteads with historical breeds of animals and heirloom plants. The collections of buildings and artifacts collected by George and Henry Landis, together with demonstrations of traditional crafts and skills, serve to interpret and preserve the past of Pennsylvania German rural life. Our guided tour will highlight the Heritage Seed Project and leave time for exploring on your own.
