Friend of the Park groups

For the more self-directed types, you may want to consider joining an existing Friend of the Park group. These are comprised of interested local people who come together with the aim for improving the appearance, facilities, conservation value and safety of their local park.

Friends also contribute to park maintenance, cleanups, and organizing; give feedback and design ideas; identify priority safety and improvement projects; and help to seek and secure funding for the park. This group serves under the auspices of the Wilmington Beautification Commission (WBC), in coalition with the City of Wilmington Parks and Recreation Department (Parks), and TheDCH, to plant, maintain and water plant beds, annuals, perennials, and trees that have been provided through TheDCH and the community.

I probably first heard about the TheDCH over 25 years ago. I don’t think it was called the DCH then. I thought it was a good resource for the average gardener and I entered...
