Group Activities for Kids

Exploring a garden is great fun for kids. From our blooming flowerbeds to our bug-eating bog plants we offer creative and exciting garden workshops for children of all ages. Workshops are given on topics ranging from soil studies to plant propagation and are introduced with consideration to age, ability, and experience of the participants.

Our teaching garden allows children
a space to explore fascinating
succulents, towering trees,
or simple perennials like catmint.

TheDCH is a wonderful trip to combine with a visit to the playground next door or a hike down Brandywine Parks trails to the river. If you are interested in scheduling a tour or workshop at TheDCH contact Gary Schwetz for more information including availability and fees.

Who of us can forget the first time we unearthed a potato or carrot? Connecting with a garden can be a magical experience for kids. We expose many young children to their first gardening exploration through our onsite Growing Green Thumbs workshops and our classes held at TheDCH supported youth Community Gardens.
