Horticultural and Environmental Leadership Program (H.E.L.P.)

The H.E.L.P. program is currently seeking a assistant teacher.
The Horticultural and Environmental Leadership Program is a FREE 3 week program focusing middle-school students on environmental and agricultural issues in their local and greater community.
The program is based at the Delaware Center for Horticulture and at nearby Point Lookout Farm on the Brandywine River. Focusing on experiential learning, H.E.L.P teaches about today’s environmental issues through fieldtrips and lectures by local environmental leaders, while continuously stressing the importance of personal responsibility and leadership. Students will have the opportunity to develop critical thinking and problem solving skills, and to practice teamwork and civic responsibility.
The program format will include on-site horticulture and agriculture exploration, environmentally focused field trips, service-learning projects, leadership development activities, and local professionals who will speak to the students about relevant topics. Brochure available here; Powerpoint presentation here.
VISION
To provide a positive summer program for teens who will use the knowledge and leadership skills gained to be proactive about environmental stewardship and influence the future.
