Capital campaign

The Delaware Center for Horticulture is Growing Greener, expanding our programs and their positive impact on Delaware; creating a modern, green facility that is in harmony with our mission; and building a financial foundation to sustain us into our next 30 years. Since 1993, TheDCH’s programs have increased more than 400%. Our professional staff of 17, and hundreds of volunteers, necessary to manage these new and expanding programs, function in a facility that has been adapted and upgraded, but can no longer accommodate continued expansion.

We envision a building that will have permeable paving; energy-efficient windows, doors and skylights; solar panels; motion-sensor lighting; and recycled and eco-friendly materials such as carpeting, paint, and insulation. A cistern, rain garden, vegetated green roof and low-flow toilets will conserve water and control stormwater runoff. Our administrative spaces, a state-of-the-art library and gallery, and public spaces for research, community meetings, and events will be user-friendly and accessible to staff, volunteers and all visitors to TheDCH. We seek to achieve LEED (Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design) standards for Silver or Gold Certification.
