Tara develops and implements urban agricultural and community gardening programs and projects, including: TheDCH’s Urban Farm at 12th & Brandywine in Wilmington; facilitation of the Urban Farm Coalition; and more than 20 community and school gardens. With a BS in Plant and Soil Science (with a Soil Science concentration) from the University of Maine at Orono, and a Master’s Certificate in Geographic Information Technology from the West Chester University of Pennsylvania, this Certified Professional Soil Scientist has three decades of professional experience in farm planning, land preservation, and environmental policy with government, non-profit, and for-profit organizations. Tara has lived in Chester County, PA since 2001.
Fun Fact:
Despite being bitten by a pig when she was 12, Tara pursued a career that helps farmers in a myriad of ways – like soil and water conservation, crop productivity, and supporting growth and local distribution of organically-grown fruits and vegetables.
