Ellen C. Petersen is a dedicated plant lover! We are so pleased to welcome her as the Honorary Chairman of the 32nd Annual Rare Plant Auction®.
Ellen is an approved Garden Club of America (GCA) Horticulture Judge and has worked at many flower shows including Atlanta, Cleveland and Philadelphia. She participates in flower shows not only as a judge but also as a contestant in both horticulture and flower arranging, and is presently chair of the National Horticulture Committee of GCA.
She is an active member of the Millbrook Garden Club, and sits on the board of the Brooklyn Botanic Garden where she serves on the Horticulture and Library Committees. She is also an honorary member of BBG’s Florilegium.
When Ellen lived in Pennsylvania in the 1990’s she completed both Certificate Programs at Longwood Gardens, and had a small garden design business from 1994 to 2000. At that time, she was also on the board of the Delaware Center for Horticulture. She is currently serving on our Council of Advisors.
Ellen lives with her husband in Stanfordville, New York. With much happiness she announced that her two grown sons and three grandchildren purchased a planter at the BBG Children’s Garden in honor of her 65th birthday!
