Ikebana Exhibit

Stop by TheDCH for this one-day exhibit of Japanese flower arranging. Sponsored by the Delaware Valley Chapter of Ohara Ikebana and the Philadelphia Chapter # 71 of Ikebana International. Local ikebana students and internationally-known Grand Masters of the Ohara School will create 38 dramatic arrangements in memory of Seiko Behr, Ohara Master and artistic potter. Seiko’s famous pottery will be featured in the displays.

 

About Seiko Behr:

Seiko was a 2nd Degree Master of the Ohara School of Ikebana. Renowned internationally as a potter, she received the Judges Choice Award at the Sogetsu International Container Competition in 1997 in Tokyo. She studied with Japanese Master Potter Teruo Hara at the Corcoran School of Art and was a private student of Kozo Kato, one of "The Hundred" Japanese Grand Masters. Her works have been featured in major exhibits at the Smithsonian, Philadelphia Museum of Art and the National Arboretum.
